Bloodhound LSR - Land Speed Record

After over 10 years based at sites in and near Bristol, the Bloodhound project has moved its headquarters north into Gloucestershire.

Bloodhound’s new UK Land Speed Record Centre is located at SGS Berkeley Green University Technical College (UTC), in the Gloucestershire Science and Technology Park. The facility is in the heart of the technical college, fulfilling the promise of providing inspirational education, particularly for the students studying at the UTC.

Why move? Primarily because the Bloodhound Technical Centre at Avonmouth was larger than required once the car had been built. The team looked at various options for a new HQ, both locally and further afield, but the Berkeley option met a number of key requirements, including being the optimum size, immediately available, located in a secure environment and within half an hour of Bristol, enabling the project to retain key members of the team.

In addition, co-locating with a Further Education college specialising in engineering apprentice training provides an opportunity for current (and future) students to live alongside the project and be inspired by it, and the prospect of collaboration between Bloodhound and the college on innovation events.
