What is a flail rotor?

Many agricultural operators use heavy duty horizontal drum rotors for mowing or mulching. These flail rotors are subject to a lot of abuse during use due to unexpected debris – they hit stones, get bent out of shape, and lose lugs.

As a ‘quick fix’, these lugs can be welded back on, but without dynamic balancing this will cause:

  • Vibrations
  • Premature wear
  • Failure of components
  • Unsafe operation
